From the short story by Prosper Merimée
A figure who made the history of Italian dance. Amedeo Amodio, a dancer and choreographer born in 1940, in his long career, in addition to dancing for La Scala Theater and on the television show Studio One, he has been director of three prestigious ensembles, such as Aterballetto and the corps de ballet of the Rome Opera and Teatro Massimo in Palermo. Created for the Reggio Emilia-based Aterballetto in 1995, his personal version of Carmen is back on stage thanks to Daniele Cipriani Entertainment.
Master Amodio’s approach to Prosper Merimée’s tale takes on metatheatrical overtones, that is, of theater within theater. To the music of Georges Bizet’s opéra-comique of the same name, adapted and enriched by original interventions by Giuseppe Calì, which will be performed by the Orchestra of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, the story of the Seville cigar-maid unfolds but from behind the scenes. Between unpredictable and surreal juxtapositions,
