DANCE 2026
MORRICONE NIGHT
National Choreographic Center / Aterballetto
November 28 and 29EuropAuditorium Theater
The 2026 Dance Season of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna is sealed by the return of Aterballetto, already applauded last year and now on stage with a new show: Notte Morricone. A imposing total art work inspired by the universe of the Roman composer who died in 2020 and commissioned from visionary Spanish choreo-director Marcos Morau. Born in 1982 and based in Barcelona, Morau is among the authors on the crest of a wave on the European scene. A refined and cultured demiurge capable of enchanting spectators’ eyes with his undoubted creative qualities that alchemically transform bodies and stage space. In the show, the emphasis is on the figure of Ennio Morricone himself, whose music, performed by the Orchestra of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, will invade the stage in Maurizio Billi’s adaptation, along with fragments of the films in which he collaborated. Caught during the night inside his own studio, the composer is immersed in the creative act of shaping the “sound of existence,” visited by different aspects of his own personality. Morricone Night takes us on a refined journey of reflection on what remains once the creative act is over. Authors die but their works live on, as tiles inserted into the great mosaic called collective memory.
