GIUSEPPE VERDI
Luisa Miller
Based on the tragedy of Schiller Kabale and the libretto of Liebe by Salvadore Cammarano, Luisa Miller traces a romantically intimate and tormented story. The opera, staged for the first time on 8 December 1849, carefully recounts the many nuances of the stormy “true story of two unhappy lovers”, Rodolfo and Luisa. Since the overture, Verdi leaves no doubt as to how the protagonist and his beloved are: love, desperate or fervent, prevails over hatred and indignation.

COMPOSER
Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901) is the opera composer to whom the Italian identity is most linked, because during his long career he intoned the most intimate values and feelings of a fragmentary country that with his music and his lyrics he learned to speak Italian.
Among the themes favoured by the master of Busseto also the various contradictions inherent in the relationship between parents and children, interpreted by masterpieces such as Rigoletto, Il trovatore, La traviata, Simon Boccanegra, Luisa Miller.
