Pierino e il lupo

The composition Pierino e il lupo, the result of Sergej Prokofiev’s reached maturity, is a masterpiece of balance, a work in which a profusion of thematic and coloristic inventions capable of stunning, destined for childhood and education, is captured. In fact, the work was born with an exquisitely and humbly didactic address: to make children aware of the sound and “behavioral”, typological and physiognomic qualities of the orchestra instruments. The score, emblematic of Prokofiev’s genius, aims at immediate communication while remaining incapable of banality.
