Tosca

Opera in three acts by G. Puccini, with libretto by Giuseppe Giacosa and Luigi Illica taken from the drama La Tosca by Victorien Sardo. The first performance of the Opera was held in Rome at the Teatro Costanzi, on 14 January 1900.

Tosca is a story of love and death in Rome in 1800.

EVENT CONCLUDED

COMPOSER

Giacomo Puccini

Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924) can be considered as the last exponent of the great Italian opera tradition; is imposed to the general public thanks to the intuition of the publisher Giulio Ricordi who sees the composer Lucca the genius on which to invest and to which he joins the librettists Giuseppe Giacosa (1847-1906) and Luigi Illica (1857-1919). From this “dream team” come works like La bohème, Tosca and Madama Butterfly, works that consecrate Puccini as the sole heir of Verdi and that still today make millions of people flock to theaters around the world.
